Watching Sense and Sensibilities was a little different from watching Jane Austen's other works turned into movies because:
a) I didn't finish reading that book yet...
b) I was too busy recognizing the actors and actresses now...
Yeah, trust me because there were a few surprises for me too and boy was I shocked when I recognized the actor/actresses playing a role in the movie...
The story is basically about these two older sisters living with their mother and little sister and they are forced to move out of their house after the death of their father and as there is no male heir in their family, all their deceased father's property has been given to the father's son from a previous marriage and the girls are only left with 500 pounds a year!!!!
The son's wife, Fanny and him decide to shift to the girl's house and they are left homeless now because of the greddy wife and she invited her brother, Edward to join her at her house now...
Is it just me or were most guys named Edward is the past??? Anyway, Elinor, the eldest of the Dashwood sisters starts falling in love with Edward and Fanny does not approve and tries to break them apart....
A letter comes and the Dashwood has to leave to start life in a new town thanks to Fanny and Elinor has to leave Edward behind and she's devastated...Meanwhile, Marianne meets the older Col. Brandon who falls for her instantly but someone else steals her heart, John Willoughby and there is a scandal involving John and his ward that are unknown to the Dashwoods...He leaves to London and Marianne is heartbroken....
Later, Elinor finds out that Edward is actually engaged to another woman, Lucy and is heartbroken as she can never be with him... Honestly, I love old movies these days and watching their English spoken in such a decent manner is so...heartwarming...If you haven't seen the movie, watch it because it is seriously a great movie to watch but I recommend it for ladies and couples only as the love story might dappen single guys spirit as they might assume that ladies expect guys to be that perfect....
We're not that demanding, guys so don't panic and do try to watch the movie for FUN.. To enter the minds of the females.... Although you might want to be warned that it is a little mushy... And predictable...
The wonderful talent of Alan Rickman as Col. Brandon and in case you can't recognize him...Here's a clue....He's playing a menacing character in one of the most popular series in history written by J.K Rowling...
Yes, he's playing Severus Snape and boy, was I shocked to find out that he's British!!! He looks older now but in Sense and Sensibility, he was pretty convincing....
Guess who plays the free spirited Marianne in this movie??? Here's a little clue...She's British and won the Best Actress Award during the Oscars a couple years back and she acted with Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic...
The wonderful Kate Winslet and if you didn't know this then well imagine this situation, there's a frying pan on the table and you're about to hold it near your head...You know what to do next then...Don't do it seriously, people..Just kidding....
See that woman who plays Elinor Dashwood??? Guess where you have seen her before and that guys beside her is Hugh Grant so don't look to surprised....Here's a little clue...She's acted in Harry Potter too as Sybil, the fortune teller crazy teacher to Harry and also she acted as Nanny Mcphee, the miracle nanny...
Yes, she's Emma Thompson, another amazing talent and a beautiful actress who somehow loves to cover her pretty face with weird roles....Guess we all know what her preferred roles are then...
Who else is also in the movie again??? Right, remember Doctor House who loves to be really mean to his patients but he's an excellent doctor, well Hugh Laurie is acting too!!! Watch out for him and you'll recognize him almost immediately but do remember that he's older now so he might look a little different....
Time to watch Becoming Jane now....It does look absolutely divine to me from the preview that I have seen...
END OF STORY!!!
